The Design

Homeowner in Richardson performed a massive renovation of his home. He installed black marble throughout the house, upgraded lighting and high-end A/V equipment throughout. He didn’t stop there. The garage got the treatment as well. But one thing was missing – Heating and Cooling. The customer reached out to Benchmark, and after a consultation, it was determined that the innovative Mitsubishi one-way ceiling cassette would be a perfect fit.

The Installation

Unlike traditional HVAC systems, the ductless system from Mitsubishi Electric does not require ductwork to be installed throughout the home. Instead, small tubing is piped through the attic, like electrical wiring, to connect the indoor ceiling cassette to the outdoor condenser. The indoor units are mounted flush in the ceiling, where they can provide the best airflow throughout the room. The units were installed in a way to provide the most unobtrusive and aesthetically pleasing visual representation possible.

The Benefits

The MLZ-Series Ceiling Cassette is a product that is exclusive to Mitsubishi. It is unique in that it will fit between standard 16” centered ceiling jousts. It is only 7-3/8” deep. It has integral access panels and requires no access from above, which also allows it to be installed below floors. It also has a built-in Mitsubishi condensate pump that is silent and reliable. It has won the 2018 Architectural Product Innovation Award and the “This Old House” 2019 Best Home Products Award, as well as many other accolades.
