Summer Lake House on Lake Texoma gets Ductless A/C

Lake Texoma Tanglewood Trail

Many families dream of owning a summer home on Lake Texoma. Life by the lake moves a little slower and offers an incredible escape from the busy, city life. For our homeowners, they made this dream a reality.

Their quaint summer home sits in the Tanglewood Resort area if Lake Texoma and offers a peaceful place to take time off. The house was equipped with window unit heating and cooling. The noisy and inefficient units distracted from the quiet, peaceful setting. Because of the home’s open, rustic design, the family knew that they didn’t want to add ductwork for a conventional HVAC system.

The Problem:

The Design

When the homeowners purchased this lake house, they knew they wanted a ductless Mitsubishi A/C system since they had already experienced the quality and benefits of it at their home in Florida. They searched the internet for an experienced Mitsubishi contractor in the DFW area and came across Benchmark Service. After reading all the 5-star reviews, they knew Benchmark Service was the company to use. Jack Schmidt with Benchmark Service met with the family at the lake house and designed a four-zone, ductless heating and cooling system that would provide consistent comfort throughout the home.

Each of the ductless units were installed on walls out of the way to optimize the airflow throughout the space. A small, unobtrusive 2 and ½ inch penetration was made in the wall behind each unit to allow the thin refrigerant lines to pass through to an inconspicuous, outdoor line set cover which completely covers and seals the penetration. The lines passed vertically, straight down to the compact Mitsubishi outdoor units which were placed and secured on a heavy-duty wall-mount brackets.

The Benefits

Ductless air conditioning systems like this are some of the most versatile and efficient A/C systems today. That is why this family will be able to keep their home cool and comfortable all summer long, and warm in the winter, without causing a spike in their electric bills.

Each ductless unit takes as much energy as a lightbulb. Additionally, these ductless units are whisper-quiet, so the family can fall asleep to the sounds of nature as opposed to the roar of an unruly A/C unit. Another benefit of opting for the ductless system is that the units operate independently of one another. This feature allows the family to set each room to a specific temperature without throwing off the whole system. Now, if someone prefers a cool bedroom to sleep in, while someone else wants it to be a little warmer, neither have to argue over a central thermostat. Instead, each unit can be set to that individual person’s comfort from the touch of a nearby remote. Now the family will be able to stay comfortable and enjoy their lake house all year long.
